There’s something undeniably thrilling about stepping aboard a ship that’s about to make history. Last year, we had the privilege of experiencing the maiden voyage of the Disney Treasure, and from the moment we walked onto the gleaming decks, we knew this cruise would be unlike any other. As longtime Disney cruisers—and as a travel family who’s experienced nearly every ship—this sailing managed to surprise, delight, and even overwhelm us (in the best way) from start to finish.

From the very first step on board, the ship took our breath away. The spaces were beautiful, thoughtfully designed, and full of that unmistakable Disney storytelling magic. As we continued to explore, our excitement only grew. Everywhere we turned, we could feel that this cruise would be different. The crew was prepared, energized, and genuinely thrilled to be part of the Treasure’s debut. It was some of the best service and warmest cast interaction we’ve ever experienced on any Disney ship, setting the tone for a truly extraordinary voyage.

Daily Gifts and Keepsakes: The Magic of a Maiden Voyage
One of the most enchanting parts of a maiden voyage is the way Disney goes all-out to celebrate. Each day, our stateroom greeted us with a thoughtfully curated inaugural gift, each one more special than the last.
We opened inaugural coins, beautifully designed treasure boxes filled with mementos, unique beach bags, and a whole collection of keepsakes commemorating the first sailing. These weren’t just souvenirs; they were treasures—literal and symbolic—marking the beginning of the Treasure’s story and ours.
Everywhere we walked on the ship, we were reminded again that this wasn’t an ordinary voyage. The cast members were polished, enthusiastic, and ready for anything.

Dining Done Right: Coco Steals the Spotlight
Our dining rotation hit all the right notes, but Plaza de Coco—the ship’s most vibrant new restaurant—stood out as the clear favorite. The atmosphere was alive with music, characters, and even a little bit of salsa dancing woven seamlessly into the meal.
It felt fresh, unique, and a welcome departure from the familiar patterns of rotational dining. Disney took a creative risk here, and it paid off beautifully.
Storytellers of the Treasure: Meeting Sage and Coriander
One of our favorite surprises aboard the Treasure was discovering the ship’s resident storytelling adventurers, Sage and Coriander. This energetic duo appeared throughout the voyage, often popping up in the Grand Hall with trunks of props and whimsical treasures that instantly drew families in. Their playful banter, imaginative tales, and interactive moments added a completely new layer of entertainment we hadn’t seen on any other Disney ship. Whether they were guiding guests through a lively retelling of classic stories or simply sparking spontaneous laughter in the hallways, they brought a sense of charm and discovery that made the ship feel even more alive.

A Stage Show to Remember: The Maiden Matinee of Moana
We were lucky enough to attend the very first matinee performance of Moana on the Disney Treasure—a rare treat, since matinees aren’t always offered.
There was even a slight mishap at the beginning when the music and sound suddenly stopped. But what happened next was unforgettable: the cast handled the moment with absolute professionalism, resetting smoothly and delivering a phenomenal show without missing a beat.
The performance was heartfelt, visually stunning, and exactly the kind of Disney storytelling that makes these cruises so special.

A Very Merry Surprise at Sea
Although maiden voyages follow their own traditions, Disney added an extra sprinkle of seasonal magic by making this sailing a Very Merrytime Christmas Cruise—just for us. We were the only guests who would get to enjoy the holiday celebration on the Treasure that year, and yet Disney didn’t hold back.
Christmas morning felt truly magical. Santa arrived, the decorations sparkled, and festive touches were everywhere. It was intimate, joyful, and one of those rare experiences you know you’ll never replicate.

Hidden Gems and Tips: What We Loved Most
The Haunted Mansion Parlor quickly became one of our favorite lounges, filled with eerie sophistication and clever details only Disney could dream up. A small tip from experience: go later in the cruise. We waited about 45 minutes on day one, but by days five and six, it was practically empty and even more enjoyable.

The "Hero Zone" for kids was a standout as well—Disney really stepped it up on the Treasure. Our son spent countless hours playing basketball and watching live football games on the big screens. It felt like his dream vacation within our vacation.
Signature Dining and Romance at Sea
Between family adventures, we carved out time for two very special experiences:
Enchanté, an elegant, romantic escape with world-class dining
Palo, where we enjoyed both a luxurious dinner and the brand-new “Prima Notte” tasting menu on night one
Both were memorable, beautifully executed, and an absolute must for couples who want a touch of sophistication.
Relaxation at Its Best (Mostly): The Spa Experience
We loved our time at the spa—serene spaces, wonderful treatments, and plenty of opportunities to unwind. It was the only place on board where we could sense that the staff was still finding their footing. The service was still excellent, just not as polished as other areas of the ship. And honestly, that’s exactly what maiden voyages are for.

A Ship Full of Promise and Pure Disney Magic
The Disney Treasure lived up to its name in every way. From memorable dining to special surprises, from world-class entertainment to heartfelt moments we’ll treasure for years, this maiden voyage set a new bar for what a Disney Cruise can be.
As Family Passport Adventures, we’ve sailed many ships and shared many stories—but this voyage felt historic, personal, and deeply magical.

We can’t wait to share more details, more photos, and more tips from our maiden voyages in upcoming posts. Until then, may your travels be filled with wonder, joy, and a little bit of Disney magic!
